Today was the last day of classes and the students were just heartbroken.  Taryn rounded out Irish Studies with a Genealogy lesson.  She researched all the family names of each student and traced them back to the county they came from.  They also learned about Irish music and slang.  In Irish American History, the students presented on the accomplishments and Irish roots of many different famous Irish Americans.

After class and a delicious King’s Hospital lunch, the students had some free time to finish out some shopping at Liffey Valley Shopping Center and take workshops from our talented ILE Staff.  Clare led an Irish dance workshop where students could learn a new ceili dance, and Kylene hosted a Celtic Frames Class where students painted frames to hold a photo from their travels!  Joey and Matt are on their way to becoming incredible Irish dancers after the workshop.

Tonight, we hosted the annual Irish Life Experience Talent Show.  Natalie sang a beautiful lullaby in Gaelic and presented on duck breeding, while the counselors sang a few fun songs.  The group also had a former ILE’er, Eric, come with his band and play some trad music for the kids.  The students loved hearing the music live and even got to ceili dance to a few songs.  After singing some Irish tunes and having great craic, the students were off to an early bedtime to prepare for our early and busy day tomorrow.
