Going away from home for a month with a group of complete strangers may not seem like a teenager’s idea of fun. But I can guarantee you that if you go on the Irish Life Experience, you will not be leaving a group of strangers and a foreign country; you will walk away from the experience with a second family and a second home.
Quite honestly, I was extremely hesitant on going on the ILE this past summer. Apart from my Irish heritage, I’d never heard much about Ireland and didn’t know a single person going on the trip. Yet as soon as I got off my flight and met two of my ILE Counselors, my nerves started to calm. The entire staff was extremely welcoming and filled with energy and excitement. It touched my heart how every single staff member genuinely cared about each of us and wanted us to have the best summer of our lives. It was easy to make friends since everyone is just as nervous and excited as you are. With each day of the trip I felt myself falling more and more in love with the beauty of Ireland and its culture. This trip opened my eyes to so many beautiful new experiences and friendships, and I am truly and forever grateful to have been a part of ILE 2014 Program.Share It!
